PINS DEL BISBE

Index card

Introduction

These forests are mainly composed of cork oak, white pine, and pine nuts, thermophilic species, which do not support too low temperatures. We also find heather, the cherry tree and the lentiscus, all of them adapted to the siliceous lands, where they predominate.

To the right there is an area that since ancient times has been populated by pines in an area where the mainland is all over the place.

The cork oaks are endemic and have always been used for their cork (especially after the 18th century), the fruits for cattle and their wood.

In the province of Girona there are 4/5 parts of all the cork oaks in Catalonia.
