Introduction
Chestnut trees of the torrent indicate a fresher atmosphere and that the soil is acidic. The shady orientation of the torrent and the water course make a microclimate that favors the chestnut tree.
Chestnuts were the most common fruits in the most inland areas where almonds were not made. They are the most caloric wild fruit, there are many recipes for cooking and preserving them.
It is a tree grown from the time of the Romans, for its wood and its fruit.
These species are drilled by the great spotted woodpecker, a type of woodpeckers that take advantage of their logs to make nests (foto).
