Introduction

This is the route of the GR11 that goes through the Pyrenees from sea to sea. Take advantage of the old cattle path that communicates with Setcases (12.5 km; 4 h 10 ') passing under the hill of Sistra (1989 m) and jumping into the Ter Valley through the "coll de Lliens". |
The mountain ranch in the last century was of vital importance to these people. The animals were not only to produce meat or milk (cows, sheep, goats), but also used to work crops (bulls, thugs, mules). They took from the farmhouse of the houses to the fields to graze; they had to move between fields and often they were taken to more distant pastures where they were there for some time. |
These roads were the means of communication that linked villages together, for their people and at the same time the movement of cattle to pastures. Often these paths are limited by stone walls, bushes or hazards, to prevent animals from entering fields of another property. |
The space that remains between the path and the fields of grass, is filled with wildflowers of all kinds, colors and smells. Spring is the best time to see it. It is worth taking a book and try to identify: the clover, oregano, plantar, bistros, or geranium forest. Oh, and if you like butterflies, you will notice that these places are the best to see them. Spaces that contribute remarkably to improve biodiversity. |
The Yarrow (foto) also known as the herb "for cuts" by its healing power, grows in these edges of grassland. |
