Introduction

The tree that we have on the right, about 10 meters high, with the reddish-brown bark, and the composite leaf, has been cultivated since ancient times.

Its hard and heavy wood was used to make furniture and wood-bases to use in butcher shops.

The Romans made an alcoholic beverage with its fruits called "cerevisa", there’s people who say that the word beer is derived from it. In order to be able to consume its fruit it must be left ripening on a bed of straw or paper newspaper for a few days.

The crust, with many tannins, has been used to fertilize skin.
