Description
Fountains and forests of the coastal mountains
We begin the route towards the “font del Mig”, the first of a series of fountains that lead us to the “Burriac” castle on an entertaining route. We will follow for a few meters the “Cirers” stream to introduce us to the “Burriac” stream, much more closed and shaded, entering the protected area of the “Parc de la Serralada Litoral”.
Surrounded by lush vegetation, we will visit the “Sureres” and the “Esquirol” fountains first, and the “Grup” and “Ferro” fountains secondly, all fixed and properly conditioned by “Grup de Fonts d’Argentona”.
Once we have visited the “Ferro” fountain, we will walk a few meters inside the stream, which we will leave to deal with the rightest part of the route along with the assault to the castle. In a jiffy, we will find the “Collet de Burriac” and follow the trail up to the monolith at the foot of the Castle. At this point we leave the track to start the final walk up to the castle a steep path that at some point will force us to use our hands to progress.
Once at the top of the “Burriac” castle the 360° views are stunning; The strip and coastal villages, “Parc Natural del Montnegre i Corredor” and the mountains of the Montseny region.
The downhill walk from the castle will be a comfortable but very steep track, and the we will follow the same track that we have already made on our way up, before turning right towards the “Oriols” hill. In this section of the descent we will enjoy extensive pine groves between blocks of granite within the area of charmed rocks (“Roques Encantades”).
From now on we will continue along a comfortable decline within the friendly environment of the “Picant” fountain as our objective, where we will be able to enjoy the fountain and its wide esplanade full of towering pines.
