Architecture and landscape in Collsacabra
Highly recommended route that combines endless landscapes with impressive views, and varied vegetation. First, we will walk between cultivated fields, oak groves to the attractive hermitage of Sant Corneli.
The second part of the route will take us to the magic of the beech forest, we will walk on top of the cliffs and have spectacular views over a large part of the country; from Montseny and Les Guilleries to Estartit, Pedraforca and the Pyrenees.

Architecture and landscape in Collsacabra
We leave the town of Tavertet following the road to Cantonigròs along a wide and comfortable track surrounded by agricultural fields and dotted here and there by beautiful farmhouses. We will leave the main track, which is practically flat, past Can Novelles and begin to climb gently in the direction of the viewpoint of Sant Corneli and the hermitage of the same name.
Just to enjoy the peace and tranquility of the surroundings of Sant Corneli it is already worth the trip. Don't forget to take a look at the dolmen located behind the hermitage.
We follow the route again along the track or path of the Font de la Vena (fountain) until we find the stream that gives the fountain its name as far as the Collet de les Graus, at which point we will turn in a south-easterly direction. A few meters further on we will enter a beautiful beech grove in the Perer valley, and when we leave it we will begin to have views of Rupit and a large part of the Collsacabra.
Things are getting more lively and we are gaining more breadth in the landscape. We will visit the vauma of Cortils. We will be blown away by the imposing views we will have on top of Roca Llarga, where we will be able to see a large part of the Guilleries, the north face of Montseny and parts of the lower Empordà, and behind us Pedraforca and the Pyrenees.
We are getting closer, little by little, to the cliff of l'Avenc, which we will practically follow until we return to the center of Tavertet. The height of the cliffs will take your breath away and if we are lucky enough to do the route after heavy rains, the Abeurador and Avellanosa jumps seen from Tavertet will leave you mesmerized.
Tips
ROUTE
- Most of the route takes place on a wide and easy track.
- Sections of trail to reach Sant Corneli, Roca Llarga and over the cliff of l'Avenc.
- From Roca Llarga to the nature fields of L'Avenc the track has a steep slope.
WATER
- Fountains only in the village.
WARNINGS
- Keep an eye on children when walking over the cliff and on Roca Llarga.
- Be careful when crossing the Avellanosa and Abeurador torrents during heavy rains.
- ROUTE OFF-LINE: the coverage under the balm is not very good.
WEATHER
- Avoid the central hours of the day especially in summer on the hottest days.
LAND
- Wide and well-marked tracks, and paths without difficulty.
- After the Avenc nature fields and up to the cliff there are many paths made by cows, keep an eye on the App to follow the path.
- Some stretch off road above the cliff.
MATERIAL
- Sun protection on summer days.
- Binoculars if you like bird watching.
- Camera.
